This is How Massive a 100-Megapixel Photo Is

Phase One dropped a bombshell this week by announcing the XF 100MP, a medium format camera with a staggering 100 megapixels. To see just how big a 100MP photo is, photographer Brian F created this illustration that compares the relative dimensions of a number of popular cameras.

The smallest box you see above represents the 12.8MP photos produced by the original Canon 5D full frame DSLR from 2005. The new Canon 5DS, the world’s highest-resolution DSLR, does 50.6MP. If you want this illustration at the actual sizes, you can see/download that version here.
