For their latest film The Hateful Eight, director Quentin Tarnatino and cinematographer Robert Richardson shot on 65mm film using Ultra Panavision 70 and Kodak VISION 3 film stocks — the biggest use of this film format in over two decades.
Time-lapse photographer Andrew Walker was one of the projectionists who worked on the 70mm roadshow for the movie, showing it 59 times over the course of 15 days. Walker also brought along his Nikon D810 to document the projection process in time-lapse form. What resulted is the mesmerizing 2.5-minute video seen above,” titled “70mm of Hateful.”
