An Inspiring Look at the Life and Work of Photographer Zhang Jingna

Here’s an 8-minute video by Adorama about the Beijing-born photographer Zhang Jingna. In the interview, we get a glimpse into the life and career of a fashion, beauty, and fine art photographer who puts a unique spin into her work.

“Jingna discovered photography during her time at art school, and eventually dropped out to pursue her passion for image-creation full-time,” Adorama says. “By 20, she had worked with Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Mercedes Benz and Ogilvy & Mather Taiwan, and published her first photobook, Something Beautiful. In 2012, Jingna moved to New York, and since then, her work has been featured on international editions of Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar.”

Drawing inspiration from her love of art, Jingna creates fashion photos that stand out from the rest.

She’s now based in New York, USA, and it’s not unusual to see her images on the cover of magazines like ELLE.

But it is her more bespoke fashion and beauty photos that are turning heads.

Jingna warns that the industry is changing again, just like how it did when film moved to digital. Now we’re in a social media age, and it’s “forcing” photographers to be more creative.

“If you can’t keep up, like with any industry, you’re going to become obsolete,” she warns.

You can see more of Jingna’s work on her website.
