Adobe announced an update to Photoshop CC today that brings a collection of new features and enhancements that photographers can use to improve the way they work.
One of the main new features is the addition of a universal search bar. The In-App Search feature lets you search tools, panels, menus, Adobe Stock assets, and help content/tutorials from directly within Photoshop.
The search can be accessed by clicking the new search symbol in the upper right hand corner of the app, by accessing Edit->Search in the menu, or by using the keyboard shortcut (CMD+F or Ctrl+F).
There are also a bunch of “hidden gem” improvements that may be harder for you to notice:
The Properties panel has been improved to display more information and provide more edit options, making it easy to make precise adjustments without having to open additional panels for specific tasks.
For example, you’ll be able to edit things like font face, size, alignment, and color of a Type layer without having to open up the Characters panel.
Adobe Photoshop now supports Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) color fonts, allowing you to access and use any SVG font installed on your computer from within the Photoshop Font menu.
Libraries in Photoshop now support Adobe Stock templates, and you can right-click on a stock image to do a visual search for similar images.
The Select and Mask Workspace has been improved with a Polygonal Lasso tool, the ability to view high-res and low-res previews during selection, and better slider behavior with Smart Radius.
The Face-Aware Liquify feature now lets you independently adjust the eyes in portraits.
Finally, Match Font can now search for any font that’s installed on your computer rather than just a subset.
To make sure you have all these new features and improvements at your disposal, just make sure you’re updated to the latest version of Photoshop CC.
