A highly reliable source revealed something exciting for Sony full-frame E-Mount shooters. Apparently, the company is planning to debut an affordable 85mm FE lens, very likely f/1.8, for all of you portrait shooters on a budget.
The report comes from Sony Alpha Rumors, who claims the source is “highly reliable” and ranks this rumor as a near certainty. The source claims this “budget” 85mm is similar to Sony’s affordable 50mm f/1.8 FE pictured above.
This should be welcome news for portrait photographers who want a cheaper alternative to the expensive Sony and Zeiss 85s currently out for the FE mount.
