Sony today announced its new Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro full frame lens. It’s a light and compact prime lens that provides versatility.
For ordinary photography, the lens features a large f/2.8 maximum aperture with high image quality and smooth bokeh. It also shoots 1:1 macro photos, allowing photographers to move in on subjects for sharp close-up images.
Controls on the lens include a focus-mode switch, a focus-range limiter, and a focus-hold button.
Other specs and features include a 6.3-inch minimum focusing distance, a weight of 8.4oz (~238g), ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, a construction that reduces glare and ghosting, and dust and moisture resistance.
The new Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro will start shipping in September 2016 with a price tag of $500.
