Here’s a quick how-to that will probably come in handy sometime down the road for every portrait photographer. Have you ever shot a portrait where one of your subject’s eyes was partially closed and it made everything look strange and uneven? Scott Kelby shows you how to fix it in Photoshop.
Sometimes this is simply a feature of someone’s face—it’s actually one of the traits you can use to find someone’s “good side” for portraits—but if you want to “fix” it or simply make a portrait look more symmetrical, you can do it in Photoshop by following this quick step-by-step tutorial by Scott Kelby.
There are no groundbreaking techniques at play here, he simply moves the wider eye over and then goes about making it match that side of the face by flipping it, brightening it, and fixing the catch light. Still, it’s useful to watch a Photoshop expert do it in about 5 minutes. This isn’t going to take you a ton of time, but it can make a big difference in the final portrait:
