Daniel DeArco has created what he claims to be the “world’s fastest camera slider.” Capable of sliding 5 feet in just 0.15 seconds, this thing is pretty darn fast – check out what it can do in the 3-minute demo above.
Rather serving as just a “because I can”-style creation, this slider has some actual applications for DeArco’s work. As an action videographer, he wanted to create this slider to shoot “Matrix-style” slow-motion action scenes using just one camera.
Ideal for the GoPro HERO6 or a new iPhone, the slider works best with smaller cameras. At the moment it is still a prototype, but DeArco hopes to do more with this in the future.
For now, you’ll have to make do with slow-motion fireballs, “freefall jumps,” and… a guy hopping from side to side.
If you want to see how the results in the video above were created, DeArco has since released a 7-minute outtakes video with some more behind-the-scenes views:
He notes that the shakiness seen in the first video in some clips is down to the fact he used a ball head rather than a more sturdy video fluid head.
