PowerRay: A Fish-Seeking Underwater Drone for Photo and Video

It seems like drone manufacturers aren’t going to run out of innovations anytime soon. PowerVision has just created the PowerRay, an underwater drone that will take photos, video, and detect fish.

PowerRay is capable of calculating the depth of fish too, as well as the underwater temperature and landscape.

The drone weighs around 3.8 kg, and the camera is capable of shooting 4K images at 25 fps, or 1080p video at 60 fps. There’s a burst mode of 5 fps for stills at 12 megapixels in size.

Watch the action in real time with 1080p video streamed straight back to you.

Its 3 thrusters give it a max speed of 1.5 meters per second in still water, and it can “sail” for 4 hours in still water with “light use.” Its max depth is 98 feet (30 meters).

It also has 2 lights, at 450 lumens, that can be dimmed and help produce better images below the waves.

This fish-seeking drone comes in three different packages: PowerRay Explorer, Angler, and Wizard.

The Angler and Wizard versions include the “PowerSeeker FishFinder,” with the Wizard also including VR goggles to enhance your underwater experience by allowing gesture-control of the drone.

FishFinder is available to use as a standalone device, transmitting information onto your smartphone, or can be attached to the drone itself.

For the photographer-fisherman crossovers amongst you, you can use PowerRay to precisely drop your bait line exactly where you want it.

Here is an introductory video that shows you everything you need to know about the PowerRay:

The PowerRay is available from the PowerVision website from $1,500.
