Adobe Unveils Technology Previews and Search for Lightroom on the Web

Adobe today announced Technology Previews for Lightroom on the Web, allowing photographers to test drive new features before they’re officially released. First up: search.

If you’d like to be an Adobe guinea pig (or test driver), you can enable Technology Preview by logging into Lightroom on the Web and then selecting “Technology Preview” from the dropdown menu in the upper left hand corner of the page.

You’ll see an options menu that lets you toggle the new Search feature on and off. Turn it on, and you’ll see the search bar while browsing your catalog.

The new Search feature isn’t just a boring old system that examines filenames: Adobe has built in its intelligent new image analysis technology.

“Try searching your library for things like food, temples, flowers, animals, and more,” Adobe says.

The feature searches through any photo you’ve synchronized online, whether through Lightroom on your desktop, mobile device, or Web browser — your entire collection is at your fingertips. It will eventually be expanded to find photos by metadata and more, Adobe says.

Head on over to the Lightroom for Web website if you’d like to give the new features a shot.
