Fujifilm has announced the new X-T30, the successor to the X-T20 mirrorless camera and the “little sibling” to the X-T3 (with which it shares many common features and specs).
Inside the X-T30 is a 26.1-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor, up from 24.3MP in the X-T20, with an ISO range of 160-12800 (expandable to 80-51200). Backed by an X-Processor 4 Quad-Core CPU, the camera can shoot 30fps at 1.25x crop and 20fps without a crop with electronic shutter, or 8fps with the mechanical shutter.
The hybrid AF system features a 100% phase-detect AF that span the entire frame, face-detection (with a new Face Selection option), and eye-detection (even in AF-C mode). Fuji has expanded the low-light limit for phase-detection AF from +0.5EV to -3EV to improve autofocusing in a wider range of lighting conditions. Focusing can be selected either through the touchscreen or the Focus Lever.
For video, the X-T30 can shoot 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 120 fps. It can also record 10-bit, 4:2:2 DCI 4K video through the HDMI port. Footage can be recorded in Fujifilm’s Film Simulation modes.
On the back of the camera is a 3-inch, 1.04-million-dot, 2-way-tilting LCD touchscreen. Above it is a 0.39-inch, 2.36-million-dot OLED color viewfinder with a ~100% coverage area. An SR Auto mode (activated with a lever) lets photographers select shooting settings from 58 different presets.
Other features and specs include an SDXC card slot, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity, a battery life of 380 photos, a USB-C jack, and a weight of just 13.51oz (383g).
The camera will be initially released in black and silver, but a new charcoal silver color will also be available starting in June. Here’s what it looks like:
