In 2011, Japanese photographer Tomiyasu Hayahisa began pointing his camera at a ping pong table found in a public athletic field in view of his dorm room in Leipzig, Germany. As the seasons passed, Hayahisa ended up capturing a diverse set of photos showing the table being used by all kinds of people for all kinds of purposes.
The project is titled TTP:
Tomiyasu tells PetaPixel that the project has been shortlisted for the MACK First Book Award 2018, which will be announcing the winner on May 16th at the Photo London fair.
This project is reminiscent of “Bench” by Ukrainian photographer Eugene Kotenko, who spent years documenting the comings and goes of one particular park bench outside his house.
