After a long series of new products for its full-frame E-mount camera lines, Sony is turning its attention back to its crop sensor mirrorless cameras. The company just announced its new 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom APS-C E-mount lens.
The new Sony 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 is the company’s 48th lens to be announced for the ever-growing E-mount ecosystem. This versatile lens is designed for cameras such as the α6500, α6300 and α6000.
The lens is light and small, weighing just 11.5oz (326g) and measuring 2.75×3.5in (~7×8.9cm). The focal range provides a 7.5x optical zoom that’s the equivalent of a 27-202.5mm lens on a 35mm sensor.
Working on the telephoto end is aided by the lens’ built-in Optical SteadyShot stabilization, which helps reduce blur caused by shake when you’re shooting handheld.
Other specs and features of the lens include “outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness” throughout the zoom range, a maximum magnification ratio of 0.29x, a minimum focus distance of just 1.48 feet (0.45m), and a linear motor for fast and quiet autofocusing (great for video recording).
The new Sony 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 will be available starting in February 2018 with a price tag of $600.
