Instead of capturing a night sky time-lapse with the stars spinning overhead, Windston attached a GoPro HERO4 to his star-tracking telescope rig and shot the 1-minute video above that show’s Earth’s rotation in a different way.
“The house and ground is the only things in this video that are moving,” he writes. “The stars and telescope are fixed on one part of the sky as the Earth rotates.”
Each of the frames you see is a 30-second exposure by the GoPro camera, and the video spans about 8 hours of that night. The bright moments you see are when Windston checked on the rig using a flashlight.
